O. A. Melnyk The concept of human structure in psychological theory Peter Semenovych Avsenyev
https://doi.org/10.31174/SEND-PP2020-236VIII94-11
Abstract. The article presents the understanding of man in the ideas of P. S. Avsenyev, where man is a simple, intelligent and free being. In man, the spirit is the goal, and matter – the means, while in things the spirit is as a means, and matter – the goal. The spirit motivates a person to activity and is a sign of life. The latter includes: 1) continuous activity, 2) its independent basis and 3) the direction of movement or periodic variability of one activity to another. For the first time the scientific society is presented with a unique psychological theory of understanding the structure of man, his essence by P. S. Avsenyev, which was developed in the 30s of the XIX century. The structure of man according to P. S. Avsenyev, which consists of being physical or bodily and being spiritual, is described. It turns out that they are by no means opposite, man combines these two beings. Physical being is connected with the “I” of man, but does not constitute it and is manifested externally, bodily. It is noted that the “I” of man is the inner beginning of life and activity, the container of feelings, desires and thoughts, accepts teachings in internal changes and assimilates them in himself. The structure of man is presented, which according to the scientist consists of being Divine – higher, supreme (concluded all possible perfections), of being spiritual or mental – «I» of man (conscious and governing) and being physical or corporeal – lower (unconscious or semi-conscious). The scientist’s vision of the spirit as the highest instance, which includes the ability to know the truth, enjoy beauty and do good, is revealed. It is through truth, beauty and goodness that the spirit announces God, the supreme. The Spirit promotes the knowledge of God, empowers man to love and reach God as a creation of God, and thus to improve in his abilities and possibilities, to develop, to be guided by conscious goals and to act wisely.

https://doi.org/10.31174/SEND-PP2020-236VIII94-18
Abstract. In any part of today’s digital world people easily get access to any information; they can disseminate it as well as create it by themselves. Modern people are overloaded with information; however, there is no guarantee that information they deal with is true. It may be biased, distorted or even untruthful, used for propaganda and manipulation. That makes the ability to critically evaluate information a survival skill, especially in Ukraine against which the war was waged, including the information one. Thus, there is urgent necessity to develop media literacy, to teach citizens, especially young people, to tell truth from fake and to detect bias and manipulation. In this respect it is required to include the course of media education as a compulsory one into school and university curricula, into programs of training and upgrading professionals, to offer online media education to those who wish to master it, etc. The analysis of relevant rich experience of western democracies in the area may be of great value for Ukraine in conditions of war and political instability. The present paper is aimed at presenting and analyzing available strategies and devices which may be used when teaching students and which make it possible to evaluate information, to identify its reliability, and to distinguish truth from propaganda, manipulation and falsehood.

https://doi.org/10.31174/SEND-PP2020-236VIII94-23
Abstract. The article presents the features of cognitive flexibility of the middle-aged examinees. It is noted that a person should be labile, supple, flexible in the dynamic living conditions. It is shown that the concept of flexibility is considered as a personal characteristic and as a feature of mental activity. It is proved that the flexibility of thinking is manifested in the appropriate variation of action methods, in the easiness of restructuring existing knowledge, in the easiness of transition from one action to another, overcoming the inertia of the previous action. It was found that there was a rigid cognitive control among most of the examinees, which indicates the difficulty of transition from verbal functions to sensory – perceptual one due to the low degree of their automation (Test Stroop Effect). It has been shown that there are more middle aged people with rigid thinking than people with cognitive flexibility (Lachins method, Verbal Labyrinth). It is established that at a high level of the general indicator of personal rigidity there is a high probability of a high level of cognitive rigidity.
