O. Hutsuliak Specificity and features of the definitionaccentuations of character at a young age

https://doi.org/10.31174/SEND-PP2020-229VIII93-12

Abstract. The article discusses modern ideas about character accentuations and compares various methods for identifying them in adolescence, as well as their reasoned application in order to diagnose and correct manifestations of personality character accentuations in adolescence. The results of the analysis of scientific psychological and pedagogical sources and an empirical examination of the problem of accounting for individual psychological characteristics in adolescence are presented. As a result of the study, a correlation was established between the method of J. Oldham and L. Morris “Self-portrait of a person” and the method of determining the accentuation of the character of G. Schmishek. A comparison table has been developed for classifications of types of accentuations and character traits in the techniques of various authors. The advantage of using one of the methods for determining character accentuations in adolescence is proved. As a result of the study, it was concluded that a person with a pronounced one accentuation, as well as with a pronounced type of character, is quite rare. In most cases, we see a combination of several accentuations or character types, which, in our opinion, gives more opportunities to compensate for negative traits and the individual’s fitness for various situations. For the psychologist, the presence of several accentuations or character types in the subject requires consideration of all character traits when providing professional and corrective recommendations.
