Abstract. The state of modern problems of design development, especially  in the context of visual realities, is associated with the general  situation  of  globalization  and  the  integrative  and  disintegrative  processes  taking  place  in  society.  In  particular,  it  can  be pointed out that the entire context of digital and the entire aesthetics of photo technologies is focused on the visual product of design, resonating with the problems of cultural values formed within the framework of fierce competition, alternative strategies of globalization  configurations  of  interaction  of  cultural  practices.  Photography  as  an  ontological  reality,  from  which  modern  visual  media constellations arise, is the most important resource that needs to be understood within the framework of digital design technologies as a cultural integrity.

https://doi.org/10.31174/SEND-HS2021-261IX48-03

Abstract. The article examines the phenomenon of historical memory. Memory is considered as a tool for deconstructing history. In Ukraine, the process of formation of historical memory is included in the process of formation of historical consciousness and unfolds in the conditions of confrontation of alternative historical discourses. Historical memory is considered through the prism of an interdisciplinary  approach.  An  axiological  emphasis  is  made  in  the  analysis  of  the  discourse  of  historical  memory.  Peculiarities  of  manipulating collective memory as a means of manipulating human consciousness are described. The process of deconstruction of the only Soviet historical  narrative  after  Ukraine’s  independence  is  considered.  The  confrontation between  the  Russian  “politics  of  memory”  and  the Ukrainian national invariant is described. The relationship between the expansion of Russian memory policy and the reduction of differ- ences in the modes of functioning and mechanisms of ideologizing historical memory in Russia and Ukraine was established on the example of the existing difference between the Russian and Ukrainian regimes of memory of the Second World War. The author emphasizes the differences in views on the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, a nationalist military organization of the 1940s and early 1950s.

Abstract. The recent announcement by Meta (the company formerly known as Facebook) that it departs from the social media platforms development to creating a “Metaverse”, caused a sensation in the media. There is an increasing number of publications speculating on the nature of this phenomenon, large companies announce similar projects one by one, investors eye the promising hightech trend, the Silicon Valley experts predict the revolution, similar to the emergence of smartphones, while the alarmists warn about the  end  of  the  reality  we  know.  We  hear  frequent  comparisons  with  the  “Matrix”  and  other  cyberfiction,  especially  with  “Snow Crash”, a science fiction novel written by American author Neal Stephenson, where this term was first coined. Against this backdrop, it seems relevant to consider this book from a linguistic point of view, especially given the fact that its plot is based on theories from the realm of neurolinguistics.

https://doi.org/10.31174/SEND-HS2021-261IX48-04

Abstract. The article looks at lexical and syntactic characteristics of Josephine (Joe) March’s speech behavior, who embodies the language personality of the American writer in the XIX century. The standard features of her idiostyle at the lexical and syntactic levels are analysed, a list of typical lexical items and syntactic constructions is presented, and common morphological and syntactic characteristics of her speech behavior are described. The research shows that the lexical level of Joe’s idiosyncrasy is characterized by the use of vocabulary in obsolete meanings, the use of lexical units belonging to the professional vocabulary of writers, and the use of euphemisms. In terms of the syntactic level the analysis shows the wide use of complex sentences, and allows us to identify syntactic structures that reflect the individual emotionality of this fictional character.

N. V. Moiseyenko Creativity and Innovation: Basic Concepts and Approaches in Teaching English

https://doi.org/10.31174/SEND-HS2021-261IX48-08

Abstract. It is generally believed that creativity enhances innovative activities. However, empirical research regarding the impact of creativity on innovation, although positive, has produced a wide range of results. It is obvious that children learn differently based on individual strengths and preferences and that  social and emotional learning plays a fundamental role in academic achievement. A strong positive relationship is found between creativity and innovation, especially at the individual level. Today learning can be more accessible and more personalized than ever before. Computational modeling has been applied to a number of areas of social creativi- ty and has the potential to contribute to our understanding of creativity. Creativity goes hand in hand with innovation. And there is no innovation without creativity. While creativity is the ability to produce new and unique ideas, innovation is the implementation of that creativity means the introduction of a new idea, solution, process, or product. Creativity is the driving force behind innovation and the incorporation of looking at things from a different perspective and freedom of restrictions by rules and written or unwritten norms.

O. Vakhovska, F. Jusuk Image-driven interpretations in professional communicative mediation: Bringing translation and psychotherapy together

https://doi.org/10.31174/SEND-HS2021-261IX48-11

Abstract. This paper focuses on the nature of interpretations in translation and in psychotherapy and shows that these forms of profes- sional communicative  mediation, though otherwise distinct, are similar in terms of this nature. This paper treats interpretations as creative acts of giving a meaning to a sign and assumes that interpretations are driven by mental images that derive from the represen- tational content of the human mind. Image-driven interpretations take the crucial role in professional communicative mediation. In translation, this is mediation across cultures; in psychotherapy, this is mediation across the conscious and the unconscious  minds. Whereas mental images are inherently conscious, their psychological precondition is in the unconscious mind. This paper moves on to explore psychotherapeutic dream interpretation because dreams make the interface between the conscious and the unconscious inter- pretive minds. Dreams as dream images and dream reports need a mediator to interpret their content. The image-driven nature of dream interpretations makes a psychotherapist’s mediating job similar to that of a translator: a good translator uses words to ‘draw’ images in the mind; a good psychotherapist does the same. This paper interprets names for translation offered in the translation studies domain and via an etymological analysis arrives at the primary images that motivated these names. Interpretations in translation are shown to capture the spirit of the content and transfer this spirit cross-culturally via words in the source and target languages. This paper continues to discuss the role of image thinking in the evolution of human communication. The perspective on communication that this paper takes proposes a role for translation among the imperatives of evolutionary survival.

It is found out that the processes of socialization and individual cultural interactions require further study and this, firstly, promotes a comfortable environment for interaction and expansion of cultures, and secondly, mutual understanding and mutual recognition of them in the modern world. It is considered that the main mechanism of the existence and development of society is cultural communication. Exactly it controls the possibility of forming cultural ties, managing common people’s livelihoods, accumulation and transfer of experience.
