O. O. Сherkhava “Reconstruction” in Cognitive Linguistic Comparative Discourse Perspective

https://doi.org/10.31174/SEND-Ph2018-167VI50-02

Аbstract.  The  aim  of  the  following  article  is  caused  by  impetuous  ongoing  research  approach  to  cultural  scope  of  religious  popular knowledge  in  language  through  the  matrix  format  –  system  of  the  interrelated  cognitive  contexts  (religious  popular  discourse  texts classification).  The  upcomming  complex  analysis  methodology  for  such  type  of  matrix  composition  could  have  its  start-up  from  the evolutional  observation  of  cognitive  matrix  analysis,  which  represents  discourse  as  the  conscious  structure  (with  its  kernel-notion  and parameter periphery). Such approach displays language form sequences and their mental representations in the concrete culture and in the projection to other cultures. On the basis of the theoretical positions in the work, a new interpretation of the term “reconstruction” in its cognitive-linguistic-discursive-discursive understanding is proposed as the most optimal descriptor, which is a theoretical construct and at the same time an instrument for the restoration of stages and schemes of architectural matrixes of religious-philosophical-biblical human being.

Keywords: cognitive linguistic comparative study, theological religious popular matrix composition, matrix reconstruction,  archetype- stereotype sense reconstruction, methodology.

Gender metaphor creates the necessary conditions for the expression of human thought and is the most commonly used stylistic device in English anecdotes. Gender metaphor having a great impact on the communicant, not only enriches the text of the anecdote with overtones of emotion, but also affects the subconsciousness of the addressee. Each gender metaphor (metaphorical utterance) has an appraisal and a pronounced expression, as it conveys the emotional potential that affects the listener’s opinion. In humorous discourse, the gender metaphor in most cases performs not only communicative, but also connotative functions.

N. V. Vasylyeva “Scientific and technological progress” in the 1920-30’s Ukrainian literary translations (based on the abridged and free translations by E. Zbars’ka)

https://doi.org/10.31174/SEND-Ph2018-167VI50-14

Abstract: The article investigates the reflection of the scientific and technological progress in the free and abridged translations by E. Zbars’ka.  The  reflection  of  the  scientific  and  technological  progress  in  different  translations  by  one  and  the  same  translator  may  be caused by some peculiarities of her individual style. The reflection of the popularity of the science of chemistry can also be seen in some works of the then Ukrainian literature. That may confirm one of the ideas of the literary polisystem theory by Itamar Even-Zohar about some connections between the original and translated literatures.
