P. Banshchykov Using business simulations to shape the strategy of companies in price wars
https://doi.org/10.31174/SEND-HS2020-243VIII43-02
Abstract. The theory of price wars is based on fundamental assumptions about the rationality of the behavior of competing firms. However, economic practice shows that companies do not always behave rationally. In such conditions, it is necessary to have other research tools that take into account any behavior of oligopolists, including irrational ones. The author proposes to use a scenario approach to assessing the consequences of different actions of competitors based on business simulations. This will allow the company to be ready for any action from its competitors.

Annotation. The history of political thought shows the diversity of theoretical concepts of civil society. A wide range of views on this problem gives grounds to distinguish two main areas in the interpretation of this concept. The first is that civil society is seen as a special non-state sphere of society, according to the second, it is considered an appropriate type of society, identified with the state as a whole. The diversity of views on civil society is the result not only of the complexity of the epistemological nature, but also a kind of reflection of different historical experiences, different cultural traditions.

Along with the global process of mediatization, we also record certain crisis phenomenas in the field of media practices. New forms of dysfunctional aspects of media consumption are taking shape, such as distortions in the media reflection of the objective state of affairs, the formation of unconventional beliefs and protest practices of consumers of socio-political information, the delegitimization of political regimes, etc. In these circumstances, there is a crisis of public trust in media (in particular, news media, such as those most focused on socio-political issues), its “erosion”. In measuring the types of media practices, traditional and participatory practices are distinguished.
