O. V. Abrosymova About the indirect nomination of cities of serial types in the German publicistic discourse (on the material of the weekly newspaper “Die Zeit”)

Abstract.  The  article  deals  with  a  research  of  serial  indirect  nominations  of  German  cities  including  their  value for linguistic and cultural  studies  (on  the material of the weekly newspaper “Die Zeit”). As a result of the research there were determined the  most often used indirect nominations of German cities, serial indirect names with the part -stadt and with the determinating part -metropole as well as a series of indirect nominations of epithet type with a metaphorical basis which consists of a river name and a foreign city name.

O. N. Aleksieieva Features of political discourse (Based on speeches of D. J. Trump and H. Clinton)

Abstract.  The  paper  under  discussion  deals  with  specifics  and  similarity  of  the political discourse of Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. The thematic groups of terminological units of pre-election speeches were analysed. The obtained results enabled determination of the 9 thematic groups of terminology in political discourse followed by the prototypes identification. Terms of economic and political subjects prevail in speeches of the both candidates by a wide margin. Terminology was not only quantitative indicator but also an important quality indicator of politicians’ success in their efforts to convince the voters.

Abstract. The study focuses on the peculiarities of the coherence category linear realization as a prominent textual feature of the Germanic belles-lettres style thematic-synchronic text structures formal-semantic and functional-informative spaces organization within the supraphrasal unity (SPU) by means of linear intra-textual interlinear syntactic link (LITISL) cohesive devices (CDs) manifestation specifically formalized in the English language.

O. O. Balaban Cognitive-semantic Universal as a Category of Cognitive Semantics

Absract. The article presents an overview of the condition of the cognitive semantics and implementation of the term cognitive and semantic  universal.  It’s  established  that  modern  cognitive  semantics  is  preoccupied  namely  with  solving  general  problems  of  the cognitive process and characterization of separate concepts in the context of basic cognitive theories (cognitive  grammar, theory of mental spaces, theory of integration etc.) and cognitive and semantic universal is considered to be the basic category. It’s considered to be perspective to provide cognitive  researches explaining  universal cognitive processes that happen in semantics.

Abstract. The article deals with the research of request tactic as the means of up holding asymmetrical role relations in in the personages’ speech based on British drama. The functioning of lexical units within request tactic is specified. The article presents an attempt of high- lighting the interrelation between the motives and the means of request tactic usage by the individuals who play lower social role.

A. S. Kalenska The notion of precedence as the marker of expressiveness in the modern Turkish mass media texts

Abstract.  The proposed article provides analysis of the major class features of precedent phenomena and reviews the peculiarities of functions of the linguistic statements of precedent content in the context of modern Turkish mass media. There are determined ways of transformation of catchphrases, phraseological units, proverbs and other types of precedent statements on the basis of analysis of the examples,  which  are  used  in  this  research  as  illustrative  material.  Moreover,  this  article  researches  the  functioning  of  precedent phenomenon in the role of expressive content marker through investigation of  transformations of connotative meaning in overviewed phrases.

The article researches the etymological aspect which is used to study lexemes and gives an opportunity to trace its formal and semantical changes during different periods of language  history, to understand their reasons and demonstrate their influence on the contemporary form and meaning  of the words. The evolution of the words that denote a settlement in the West Germanic and east Slavic languages  is presented.

Abstract. The article is devoted to research of supersegmental level of speech and peculiarities of conducting phonostilistics experiment.  The aim of this work is the determination  of stages, methods, techniques and computer programs, which are required for such type of re-searches. The article also includes an example of using the described technique based on the study phonostylistics features of the intonation of modern sociolect of Germany officials.

Abstract. The article deals with the study of the phenomenon of virtuality. Virtual reality is considered as a universal communication platform and a unique communicative space, which is subject to certain specific and unavailable in the actual reality terms of communication. Research material is the modern mass culture text corpora – the Marvel Universe. Such characteristic features of the virtual communicative space as interactivity, polysemyoticity, creativity and anonymity are analyzed as a key factor in the secondary multimodal discourse production in modern cyberspace.

V. O. Lopata The formal-grammatical types of two-parts sentences with two-prefix verbal predicate of distributive semantics

Abstract.  The  article  deals two types of incompleteness personal paradigm two-prefix intransitive verbs of distributive semantics. The  parameters  of  using  such  verbs  as  predicate  of two-compound sentences have determined. The two-, three-, four- and multi- component types of formal-grammatical structure these sentences have characterized. The functions and morphological expression of secondary parts have established. The specifics of filling formal-grammatical types of two-compound sentences has noted. The pred- icates are expressed two-prefix verbs in all personal forms of plural and form of third person plural.

Abstract:  The  article  provides  the  research  on  the  problem of rendering author’s individual style and its dominant features in the target  language.  Paronomasia  as  the highest form of humor challenges the most professional translators, making them decide which of the two options is better: to save the form of the wordplay or to render the author’s intention. In either case, the final target is to preserve the humorous effect of a stylistic device, which encourages  translators to employ a variety of creative translation techniques.

The problem of functioning and specificity of ironic symbols have focused in poem «Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage» by J. G. Byron. The ironic implication of subjective-estimated author’s position world-outlook has isolated.

A. Stativka The Strategic Aspect of Translating Phonographic Deviations

Abstract. The article deals with the strategies of rendering phonographic deviations (PDs) in the English-Ukrainian translation on the material  of  such  novels  as  “Gone  with  the  Wind”  by  M. Mitchell,  “The  Cabbages  and  Kings”  by  O. Henry,  “Hard  Times”  by Ch. Dickens. Theoretical conclusions are made on the basis of opposition between the posit ion of some prominent Soviet translation theoreticians,  who  absolutely  rejected  the  idea  of  translating  PDs  by  means  of  the target language, and that of their Western colleagues,  who proclaimed the possibility and necessity of translating PDs by analogues (parallel) means of the target language.

O. Ya. Surmach Cognitive and psycholinguistic interpretation of the results of the associative experiment (a case study of the “wealth” concept in the English language)

Abstract. Analyzing the semantic and associative sphere of the concept “wealth” we use the method of associative experiment and cognitive- psycholinguistic interpretation of the received material. It implies that the concept itself is closely connected with associative area or with the field name that is expressed in it. The associative field of the word is the whole range of the received words on the stimulating word. Positive and negative connotations of certain areas of the associative field are essential key figures of the concept’s national specific features.

I. O. Yushchenko Muslim Law: terminological problems in the Persian legal discourse

Abstract. Over the last years the question of studying Persian legal terminology, as a specialized system of legal concepts remains to be linguistic problem. The article is devoted to the study of the terminology of Muslim law, which has an impact on the all legislative acts  of  the  Islamic  Republic  of  Iran  without  exception.  An  overview  of the IRI’s legal framework proves that the analysis of the terminological processes and the classification of legal terms, as well as the study of the development of the legal vocabulary of the Persian language, can’t be complicated, without the distinction of the Muslim legal vocabulary. An important theoretical contribution of  this  article  is  the  inference  of the terms of Muslim law in the Persian language, and the definition of their semantic differences, compared with the Arabic ones.
