Abstract. “The manuscripts don’t burn,” said Woland, the enigmatic Satan of Bulgakov’s novel. Bulgakov paints a suggestive picture of Moscow, the Soviet Union in the 1920s and 1930s, by means of satire, grotesque and fantasy. At all ages, it validly presents the personal offerings of historical tortures, the eternal problem of a man struggling between bounds, a caller, and an unbelieving, fluctu- ating man. The main characters in the novel are unforgettable: Woland, who is both Satan and a representative of higher justice; the Master, who became the eternal symbol of the Artist opposed to the machinery of power, and – novel in the novel – tells the story of Jesus in a peculiar way.
Keywords: Bulgakov, Master and Margarita, the task and opportunity of artist, irreconcilable opposition, consciousness formations, realistic and untealistic planes, redemption novel

K. Gorzó Cultural anthropological analysis of the trial of Agnes Sampson, the first woman to be executed in Scotland on charges of witchcraft
https://doi.org/10.31174/SEND-HS2021-258IX47-05
Abstract. This paper is a cultural anthropology study of the court documents from the trial of Agnes Sampson from the Scotland, the first officially recorded witch conviction and execution in Scotland. Upon such examination of the court documents evident cultural remnants were found of the ancient druidistic pagan religion of the Bryton tribes who originated from the Celts. The analysis yields the statement that the demise of Agnes Sampson in 1591 was due to the practices of these druid traditions. The relevance of this research is in aiding current rehabilitation trials of women, convicted, executed, and/or accused of witchcraft. The cultural anthropology methods become helpful to understand which ancient belief remnants are apparent in a certain era, and in determining which ones cause such prosecution against its followers. Agnes Sampson was obviously continuing the druid traditions, nothing points this out better than the actual charges against her.

K. Timofieieva P. Kulish’s epistolar contacts (based on archival sources)
https://doi.org/10.31174/SEND-HS2021-258IX47-08
Abstract. The chosen topic is determined by an urgent necessity to look into Panteleimon Kulish’s achievements as a piece of the Ukrainian society’s history, especially in the field of humanities, with the archival science occupying an important place within. It is an important factor combining past, present and future through epistolary work. National revival in Ukrainian society is impossible without an objective reception of P. Kulish’s creative heritage. At present, the letters of famous people are put at the level with other archival documents: protocols, notes, petitions, orders, diaries, and memoirs, notes of party and state bodies. Nowadays, in general use and open access there are huge archival collections, among which one can find many unprintable handwritten materials. There- fore, through a systemic and scrupulous scientific research, we are to find out the mysterious figure of P. Kulish, full of contradic- tions and contrasts, as state the scientists who have been studying his activities and work for more than a hundred years. However, the present stage of studying P. Kulish’s activities raises a necessity of carrying out a more complete, deeper and more thorough de- velopment of documentary sources, including correspondence. The Kulish letters provide his researchers with reliable facts about the artist’s biography and work, and allow them to study and analyze in detail the cultural space of that time, that is, one way or another, represented in today’s reality, as history repeats itself. The modern researcher is attracted to P. Kulish’s personality by the infinity of handwritten material, now awaiting its publication. With the involvement of archival material, the proposed publication considers various aspects of P. Kulish’s relationship with his surroundings, analyzes his epistolary heritage as Kulish’s correspondence is of a literary-scientific and cultural-social nature. Covering the views and ideas of P. Kulish, based on historical archival sources, the research addresses to documentary materials while working with epistolary sources, as well as introduces the writer’s correspondence into scientific circulation.

https://doi.org/10.31174/SEND-HS2021-258IX47-09
Abstract. The article presents the results of a study of plasma donors as an agent of information impact in a pandemic situation. The key problem is the need to socially advance anti-pandemic measures in the face of poorly managed social responses to the fight against a pandemic. The analysis of the research results demonstrates a sufficiently high level of rational critical thinking of plasma donors in relation to being informed about the pandemic and combating it. It is concluded that the fixed position of plasma donors in the infor- mation space creates a stable foundation for the effective inclusion of this group in the processes of information support of anti-pandemic measures.
